The official list below shows time slots reserved, not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor if a course has its final exam within this period.

Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam content. If you require special accommodations because of chronic disease, visual or hearing impairment or other disabilities, contact the exam provider and provide the documents when you register.

Faculty can view their exam times through the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. The Registrar's Office also has a schedule of exam times for those courses that are required to have an exam by NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled during the regular class meeting time during the exam week.

Registration

Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. However it is important to keep in mind that the final exam schedule could alter at any moment. Students should therefore inquire with their instructors for the correct time and date of their test. Students should also be sure to print out the official list and bring it to their exam.

Students must also familiarize themselves with the guidelines and conditions of the exam, in addition to the exam schedule. These are on the website for each exam. Students acknowledge that they have read and accepted the terms and conditions of registration.

Exam sites try their best to accommodate participants who have special requirements. The nature and extent of these needs must be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a physician's attestation. The locations for the exam must adhere to confidentiality.

If a student is scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they must contact their instructor or department in order to arrange for a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three tests in one day, this can result in a high stress level and can impact the quality of the exam. The instructor may not be able to offer an additional test to make up for the missed day.

The exam is a paper-based test that measures your ability to read and write German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam are awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has reached language level A1. This level corresponds to the initial stage of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The examination is free of charge. Students are required to carry an official government ID to the examination. If they do not present an acceptable photo ID will be disqualified from taking the exam.

Fees

If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you must pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.

Practice assessments give you an overview of the format and wording, as well as the level of questions on the test. They can help you evaluate your knowledge, spot gaps and increase your chances of acing the exam.
